As directed by Senior Engineer (Support) will:
Provides Mechanical Engineer technical expertise within the MWSPC’s Engineering Support Group.
Assist in the preparation of detailed design packages and bid packages for approved mechanical improvements.
Coordinates Mechanical engineering activities with in-house and contract engineering resources.
Ensure all relevant engineering standards and procedures are followed during project phase, plant operations, repairs and alterations by in-house and contract resources.
Supports the development and implementation of the mechanical maintenance reliability program.
Supports the development and implementation of mechanical maintenance procedures.
Leads the root cause analysis of repeated or major failures to ensure continuous improvement.
Troubleshoots mechanical problems in the plant and proposes solutions.
Meets regularly as a part of the maintenance and production team to coordinate activities and priorities.
Supports the development of Engineering Support Group KPI’s to ensure responsiveness to customer needs and to promote continuous improvement.
Provides input to the annual Engineering Support Group budget for each plant in conjunction with all concerned parties including the relevant plant manager.
Provides input to the capital planning budget taking into account improvement opportunities and end of life replacement requirements.
Assist in identifying critical spare parts and specialized tools and ensures their availability in compliance with the reliability centered maintenance program.
Supports the development of specifications and supplier lists for spare parts to enable ordering/reordering.
Carries out other similar or related duties as assigned by management.
Technical Expertise
Effectively applies engineering methodology and enforces project standards.
Identifies risks and ensures operational impacts are minimized.
Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
Ensures QA/QC programs are effectively established.
Monitors and reviews detailed project designs and drawing specifications.
Ensures compliance with all safety and environmental regulations
Maintenance for Shutdown and Turnaround
Assists with the planning, execution and cost control of shutdowns and turnarounds to meet Mechanical maintenance and Business Plan objectives.
Ensures the spare parts; manpower and equipment are available for the efficient and timely completion of shutdown and turnaround activities.
Identify and manage critical mechanical spare parts and all mechanical maintenance tools including specialized tools needed for shutdown or turnaround maintenance
Ensures mechanical spare parts and consumables are stocked in the warehouse and that adequate specifications and Suppliers have been developed to enable ordering/reordering.
Policies, Processes & Procedures
Assist in the implementation of policies, processes, procedures and controls covering all areas of Support Engineering Department at MWSPC Plant sites to ensure all relevant procedural/ legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering the appropriate quality and targeted objectives in a cost-effective manner.
Carries out the Establish Mechanical Engineering service level agreements with other customers.
Provides clear knowledge of laws, regulations, and guidelines within industries to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and organizations.
Health, Safety and Environmental
Promote a culture of “Safety First” as reflected by low accident and incident rates.
Ensure implementation of the operational HSE Management System to ensure all MWSPC staff observes standard HSE processes and operating procedures.
Participates in Emergency Response and Command activities as required.
Ensures that all personnel and contractors are fully briefed and trained on MWSPC’s HSE regulations and adhere with them.
Participate in the investigation of work accidents/incidents ensuring the effective implementation of the MWSPC's safety policies.
Ensure activities are carried out to minimize environmental impacts in accordance with legislation, agreements, conditions and corporate standards.
