Parsons are seeking an energetic, creative, and supportive member to join our team as Sustainability Manager. Qiddiya is the proposed Iconic Entertainment Center for the Kingdom, of Saudi Arabia, and is currently under construction 45 km west of Riyadh. We work in a highly collaborative setting, with a large number of stakeholders to support operations, education, and outreach related to sustainability issues. The Sustainability Coordinator will work closely with the Stakeholder Manager, Risk Manager, and Program Manager to assist in developing a Sustainability Strategic Plan (SSP) for the Qiddiya program that meets the KSA’s Vision 2030 Plan. The goals and objectives of the Sustainability Strategic Plan should include: reducing energy and water consumption, promoting recycling goals, LEED Certification, materials selection for buildings, increasing awareness among management, staff and the community about our commitment to sustainability, and launching the Qiddiya Entertainment City SSP.

This position is located in the Qiddiya Program Office in the ITCC building in Riyadh. The Sustainability Manager reports to the Qiddiya Program Manager. He provides leadership in promoting and coordinating the implementation of the sustainable development agenda of the Kingdom, for a new City that covers 335 sq km and is currently under construction. The city is slated to be built over the next 12 years. The first phase is the development of the Theme Park, early works and infrastructure with an opening in 2022.

Responsibilities - within delegated authority, the Sustainable Manager is responsible for the following duties:
1. Development of the solid waste management plan including evaluation of disposal locations, waste haulers, recycling center need, siting and requirements, and the full life cycle of refuse, and construction debris. The manager will be responsible to oversee the construction to ensure all construction debris is disposed properly off-site at permitted facilities.

2. Support of Qiddiya management with evaluating program effectiveness and documenting monthly performance trends in energy, water, and solid waste reduction. The Sustainability Manager will assist with implementing outreach efforts related to sustainability in the local communities.

3. Support of the Qiddiya Program Manager in communicating the goals and objectives of the Sustainability Strategic Plan, and our progress in achieving those goals. This will include assisting with creating, maintaining and updating the Qiddiya Office of Sustainability website, and developing electronic guides, blogs, and newsletters. The Manager will also assist with publishing annual reports related to sustainability efforts and initiatives, including annual assessments of progress, community service projects related to sustainability, and an annual portfolio of sustainability research, progress, and innovation.

4. Responsible for daily office management tasks and functions, including handling and logging information requests related to the campus recycling program, assisting with the fiscal management of the department, preparing purchasing requisitions and travel requests, managing grant requirements, etc.

5. Support the corporate processes on the implementation of the Vision 2030 Agenda for The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for Qiddiya. Sustainable Development and the sustainable development goals (SDGs) can be achieved by addressing the three dimensions of sustainable development in a balanced manner, including through: (i) researching and preparing inputs to reports for the PIF Founding Board, background papers, and other analytical reports; and (ii) provision of substantive backstopping to intergovernmental and interagency meetings and expert groups.

6. Prepares speeches, briefing notes, presentations, statements and other inputs for presentations by senior staff on sustainable development issues.

7. Participates in or represents the Qiddiya City in international, regional and national conferences on relevant sustainable development issues and provides briefings to public interest groups on the progress of the sustainability of the City.

8. Supports junior staff; reviewing their work and providing feedback.

9. Performs other related duties as required.
Competencies/Professionalism: Knowledge of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs);
Exposure to the creation, adoption and implementation of sustainable development plans within the KSA and the international level;
Ability to apply sustainable development theories, concepts and approaches. Ability to identify issues, analyze and participate in the resolution of issues/problems.
Ability to conduct data collection using various methods.
Ability to conduct independent research and analysis, including familiarity with various research sources, including electronic resources on the internet, intranet and other databases.

Education: Master’s or professional degree in sustainable development, international relations, economics, public policy, law, public administration, environmental engineering, social sciences or related field is required. A Doctorate or PhD in a related field is preferred but not required.
