- The primary role of the Construction Manager will be to review, monitor and encourage the EPC Contractor to deliver the project safely, within the timescales proposed and meeting all technical specifications defined in the EPC Contract. The Construction Manager’s main responsibilities are:
- Review and make recommendations on construction methodology and procedures including method statements, risk assessments, construction execution plans, constructability procedures, transport logistics and rigging plans.
- Establish and promote good working relations with the project staff, the Client and the EPC Contractor.
- Review PMC manhour estimates and manning mobilization plans and organisation charts.
- Support site surveys and the supervision of subcontractors for geotechnical, topographical and laser surveys on site.
- Attend plot plan and model reviews.
- Establish, manage and lead a PMC construction team to oversee all aspects of the work on site. The team will consist of HSE Management, Construction Engineering, Discipline Superintendents, Materials Management, QA Manager with inspectors and Completions Management.
- Ensure that the EPC Contractor implements the standards of international construction and the project procedures relating to construction. Above all other considerations the Construction Manager must be able to demonstrate a sincere adherence to the furtherance of HSE improvements in all activities.
- Contribute to an analysis of EPC subcontract strategy and division of work.
- Understand the EPC Contractor’s proposed construction schedule in detail, ensuring that it is realistic, and then drive the Contractor to deliver to that plan.
- Oversee mechanical completion and try to ensure a smooth turnover of the plant.
- Monitor closely the construction quality to ensure compliance with functional and construction specifications.
- Report to the Client on the adequacy of the site supervisor staff employed by the EPC Contractor.
- Co-ordinate the demobilization of contractors’ temporary site facilities and their removal from site.
