Senior Design Manager – Major Masterplanned Development
Based in Saudi Arabia, reporting to the programme director managing the complete design management deliverables for multiple projects on behalf of the client.
To be responsible for the development of the brief, design strategy and subsequent management of consultants and design partners.
To be a part of the senior management team seconded into a long standing client.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Design strategy and team leadership.
• Organizing and chairing strategic design reviews and engagement of design consultants.
• Ensuring a cohesive design management process is adhered to throughout all stages of the scheme.
• Providing input to development management in feasibility assessments by developing site analysis, test fit, concept design as well as other studies.
• Soliciting input and communicating regularly during the planning process with development management, other operations teams, and all relevant authorities to ensure that the client’s intents are executed.
• Providing support review and advisory services on masterplanning matters to project management during construction stage.
• Managing the selection and work of masterplanning consultants and ensuring quality, budget and time compliance of the consultant’s work in accordance with the service contract.
• Managing the contract including preparing RFPs and processing payments and variations.
• Periodically updating any change to the masterplan design, timeline and cost to development management and other operations teams such as by issuing monthly progress reports.
• Assessing impact on all delivery activities and minimize financial and operational impact.
• Providing input to development management to optimize real estate portfolio by creating innovative proposals for development that maximizes ROI.
• Multitasking and continuous looking at architecture/infrastructure/detailed design where possible, especially after the completion of masterplanning work.
The successful applicant will need to have experience in coordinating and managing multiple stakeholders and demonstrate the ability to build robust, long term relationships and integrated teams.
Requirements
Your experience, knowledge and skills need to include:
• 10+ years’ experience.
• Masterplanned, major development/project experience is essential.
• International experience is an advantage but not essential.
• International project delivery experience is an advantage.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills will be required.
• Ability to demonstrate a clear and systematic approach to solving complex technical and aesthetic issues.
• Previously worked for blue chip, western project management or consultancy organizations or the international developer/clients/end users is essential.
Qualifications
• A degree qualification is preferred.
• Professional memberships are an advantage but are not essential.
